HALT - A Cultural Exploration Of The German Spirit For Those Done With The Old Paradigm
HALT! Pause to move forward differently.

Why we do what we do
We are living in times of acceleration. Higher! Faster! Louder! But what is eroding is what holds. That's why we're creating HALT, the print only coffee table magazine for leaders and business owners.
HALT! The Title
The German word HALT carries two direct but very different meanings:
“To hold.” And “Hold on a minute.”
It is also the root of HALTUNG: posture, attitude, stance, or demeanor.
The Mission Behind
In a world that constantly pushes forward, very few systems - especially the human system - are designed to remain intact.
HALT is a deliberate pause. A space where you can explore ideas, stories, and insights that are concrete, inspirational, abstract, and even playful. It gives you something to hold on to in times of change, so you can take a little time and move forward differently.
HALT is a deep dive into the German spirit, a natural antidote to the relentless drive for higher, faster, wider. And it invites you to rediscover a small, lovable piece of identity, beyond the typical hyper-critical German lens or the familiar Zeigefinger (Index Finger) - “I know better, I have all the answers.”
HALT – Episode One: TIEFE (Depth)
Tie·fe, noun, feminine [die]
Meaning: Vertical extension downward,
extension inward or backward,
Profundity and DEPTH of feelings, colors, voice or sounds.
Episode One of HALT explores depth as a core element of German identity.
In a culture often stereotyped as meticulous, critical, and complex, TIEFE invites you to look beneath that surface. Uncovering layers of thought, creativity, and perspective that are rarely seen or acknowledged.
This episode explores how depth can be observed, designed, and experienced: in leadership, art, psychology, culture, high performing contexts and music.

Creator's Note
By Hedi Schaefer

Being born in Berlin but traveling far and wide from an early age - and living in South Africa and South Korea - I was always in awe of culture.
How it connects people, shapes how we communicate, collaborate, and just… exist together.
Being German in that mix, though, has always been tricky. We don’t really learn how to connect with our own culture, or even take a little pride in it. Instead, there is often the weight of history - the lessons of past wars, the faults and the shame we carry wherever we go.
And yet, hearing it mirrored back from others became fascinating to me.
Leaders around the world would start sentences with: “What I love about German culture is…” Or one of my best friends, Moroccan, teasing: “The only thing you Germans really can’t do is act!”
It made me wonder: What are we hiding? And what if there is something valuable, right in plain sight, that we simply don’t notice? Something that could actually support people to navigate the wild transformation we are living through right now?
That’s how HALT began.
A question that turned into conversations, casual pitches, and unexpected enthusiasm.
Made with heart and supported by a network of people who want to leave the old paradigm behind, HALT is a small love letter to a culture that is complex, weird, wonderful - and everything in between.
Because identity is never just a fixed recipe. It grows from upbringing, choices, relationships, and the stories we tell about ourselves. And when we lose connection to that, confusion or even isolation can appear.
So let HALT be your gentle pause. A place to hold on for a moment - and then move forward, more nurtured and even stronger than before.
